District 2 Representative
I’m an IHSS consumer, the current IHSS AC chair, and a Winters resident. In addition to advocating for IHSS, I’m enthusiastic about increasing civic engagement and bolstering emergency preparedness and response for vulnerable populations. I represent IHSS AC at the Yolo County Fire Safe Council, and serve on Yolo County’s Voting Accessibility Advisory Committee, the Commission on Aging & Adult Services’ emergency prep subcommittee, Winters Natural Resources Commission, and the state’s Standardized Emergency Management System Alert & Warning Specialist Committee.
John Cooper, Vice Chair

My name is John Cooper and I am a 45-year resident of Davis, Ca. I have been an IHSS provider for my Daughter Holly in both Alameda County while she attended the University of California and presently in Yolo County. I spent 30 years as a Science Teacher in the Elk Grove School district and have been retired for 5 years. Through my family’s experience with the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy, I’ve gained an appreciation for the challenges faced by many IHSS recipients and providers. I look forward to working with the Yolo County IHSS Advisory committee in the future.
Valerie Vergara

My name is Valerie Vergara. I was interested in serving on the Yolo County IHSS Advisory Committee because I am passionate about integrated healthcare programs that help people live their lives to the fullest. Presently, I am an Associate Director for Life Sciences Strategic Sourcing at the Univ. of CA Regents office, and prior to that, I worked for many years at Novartis. I hold an MBA from University of Michigan and a B.S. in genetics from UC Davis. I am honored to serve as a member of the advisory committee, which I’ve found to be a dedicated team of folks with a “can-do” attitude.
Krissie Matta

I've been a Yolo County IHSS provider for 15 years. My love for my disabled husband has stirred a passion to serve the disabled and aging community. My hope as a new committee member is to advocate for this vital IHSS program and the people we serve.

I became blind and disable in 1995 because of an allergic reaction to Penicillin. My heart to give hope through my life’s experiences with many good programs, organizations and people. I believe that senior and the disable should be able to live at home in their community with dignity and respect!
Holly Cooper
Member At Large
I have been an IHSS consumer for over 10 years. I majored in psychology with a minor in disability studies from UC Berkeley, and I have a master's degree in counseling psychology from The Wright Institute. I am passionate about disability advocacy and ensuring marginalized communities receive adequate support. My professional background includes, but is not limited to, school-based psychology services and administrative work for a start-up supporting people with employment barriers find work.
